A massive month for us - the first sod has turned and site blessed. The weather on the day was perfect, the showers stopped just in time for the ceremony. Building expected to take 10-12 weeks from now.
We received an update on posts (pou) now to be carved wood, called ‘Una Ona He’ (“scale of the fish”). The name for site needs to be formalised. Discussion and agreement it should be Beach Haven Garden.
We also talked about the recent events for the March festival. The Scarecrows in the Garden event was smaller than last year, but we still had 200 votes from the public o nthe day.
The Hidden Treasure photo competition "Life through the lens in Beach Haven & Birkdale" was very successful. We had 41 entrants and a good steam of people of the day. Harvey Norman graciously provided prizes.
Dave from Auckland Transport was present to talk about planned consultation for changes to public transport on North Shore. Auckland Transport running consultation from 02 June through til 13 July. They will do leaflets/mail drop and open days, but want to tie into existing events where there are already people.
